He will not succeed. The fact that we are deigning to take notice of him at all may convince him that the prize [He spits the word out, clearly hating the concept of thinking of anyone that way, especially his sister] he seeks is worth pursuing. Hurting him would further solidify this fantasy, and killing him, so that she must bring him back? Would convince him that she truly does think of him as special.

So instead we will humiliate him. That will remind him that we are the ones in power here, and with all the power in our hands, we choose instead to give him an idiotic punishment instead of something more substantial.
